چکیده
A newborn infant was referred to the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Princess Margaret Hospital, for further assessment for renal abnormalities detected by antenatal ultrasonography. Postnatal ultrasonography showed a cluster of noncommunicating cysts of varying sizes in the left renal fossa (Fig 1). The largest cyst was peripherally located. No normal renal parenchyma was detected in the left renal fossa. Hydronephrosis was seen in the right kidney (Fig 2), but the right renal parenchyma otherwise appeared normal. No hydroureter was seen.

Prenatal Diagnosis of Bilateral Fetal Duplex Kidneys and a Short Review about Duplex Kidneys
Duplex kidney is one of common major congenital abnormalities of the urinary tract with an incidence about 1% of all live births and higher frequency in females than in males. Majority of duplex kidneys are unilateral. Although the antenatal diagnosis of fetal hydronephrosis is simple, the diagnosis of fetal renal duplication is infrequent, especially in case the collecting system is not dilate...

متن کاملIdentical twins with uterus didelphys and duplex kidneys.
Congenital uterine abnormalities occur as a result of partial or complete failure of Mullerian duct fusion probably about the fifth or sixth week of fetal life. Maternal and/or placental factors have been implicated. There are a few reports of a double uterus occurring in sisters and their mothers (Polishuk & Ron, 1974; Prucha, 1983) which suggest a dominant autosomal gene as a possible genetic...
